After stocking up on supplies and a quick dinner by the currumbin river we took to the road again arriving at our final destination for the night Springbrook National Park. Spotting a few travellers at a picnic area we were eager to learn thier story. They were Swedish, 3 friends from back home taking a gap year in Australia. After chatting for a while a telling them about the Roadtrip Diaires Project they were keen to join us for the next days adventure. Up early we took a hike upstream at the cougal cascades through stunning rainforest in search of a good swimming hole.

The Roadtrip Diaries – Deep in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland

We packed a picnic lunch and chilled the wine before we set off on the first day of The Roadtrip Diaries.
A group of 4 travellers that quickly grew to 7 joined the roadtrip the adventure. That’s spontaneous travel for you!
Winding our way up and down through lush green rolling hills the travellers were treated to glimpses looking out over the the sunshine coast region, out to edge of the ocean and beyond.

We arrived at Kondallila falls and made out way down through the rainforest, full of palms and tallgums, it was surreal.
After a short hike we discovered a small water fall and swimming hole, feeling hot after our hike, we jumped at the chance to get wet. Rock Jumps and tree swings we became like kids again, deep in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

After cooling off we enjoyed lunch and some wine perched, gazing down through the Obi Obi Valley. Mezmeried by the falling sun  , a palette of light and shade washed through the valley below.

During our departure we met 4 french girls and asked them if they would like to join us to watch the sunset. They followed the Supervan out to Bald Knob Rd where we stopped above a farm to admire the  sunset over the glasshouse mountains.
